Brown's involvement in activities designed to foster improved race relations in the southern United States, including his membership on and presidency of the Virginia Council on Human Relations and the Richmond Area Council on Human Relations. Includes organizational records, correspondence, newspaper clippings, and pamphlets concerning school desegregation, racial integration, and the Civil Rights Movement in general. Also, includes articles and other materials concerning Brown's editorship of the Presbyterian Outlook of Richmond, Va., especially concerning the magazine's treatment of racial issues.
